DOEB
NEXSAN “SATABlade” makes it easier for DOEB to maintain ever-growing database
Taking care of the data in the energy sector of Thailand, DOEB faces an increase in oil and gas consumers and activities has caused DOEB’s database to grow tremendously. This influx has caused the current storage capacity to increase extensively and reach its maximum. There is an urgent need to increase the storage capacity for the Oracle Database.
The Challenge
In DOEB, they are using SUNFire 280r as Oracle 10g database server and the server is connected to the Fiber Channel Architecture. In order to increase the storage capacity, an external 2 TB storage for the Oracle Database is required. Eventually, SDB came out with the ultimate solution for DOEB which was NEXSAN “SATABlade”. TCO, ROI and performance were the main factors which were being considered before “SATABlade” was chosen. However there was limited space in the rack, “SATABlade” unique 1U design enables deployment of the “SATABlade” without disruption to its operation.
The Solutions
Nexsan’s award-winning SATABlade is a powerful and cost-effective Serial ATA (SATA) storage system that delivers stunning performance for businesses requiring a scalable, high-performance storage solution. Supporting the latest 10,000 RPM SATA drives in an extreme density, low-profile form factor, SATABlade delivers exceptionally high performance for data-intensive storage application and the small footprint solution can be easily optimised to meet either performance or capacity requirements. Featuring individual drive independence within a unique 1U physical architecture that maximises airflow and allows easy access to eight hot-swappable SATA drives, a single SATABlade can easily store up to 3.2 terabytes of data.
The Results
After installing “SATABlade”, DOEB now has the increased storage capacity on using the database for DOEB’s application and backup. DOEB will be using “SATABlade” to expand their email storage for the extra partition of storage.
